As asset management firms look to streamline their middle offices, they are also looking to streamline their service provider relationships. And although there are more vendors than ever in the middle office space, this vendor consolidation trend expands to all areas of the organization. It has become increasingly necessary for vendors and service providers to offer 'the full package' while also demonstrating their value in a crowded field. On the other side of the fence, asset managers are facing the difficult task of distinguishing between a growing number of options. This search and selection should be guided by their own operating needs says Tom Secaur, "It puts the onus on the asset manager to figure out well before they select a vendor what type of operating model they want to employ within their organization, because that's where they're going to figure out which [service providers] to reach out to"
