Citisoft, a global investment management consulting firm, has named the third scholar to their Citisoft Scholars Program, in partnership with Youth Guidance.
Citisoft is excited to announce Jakhi Sanders as a Citisoft Scholar and recipient of a four-year scholarship to the University of Rhode Island.
The Citisoft Scholars Program works toward the mission of helping empower students in underserved communities through education, financial literacy, and community engagement. In 2022, Citisoft launched the four-year scholarship program in partnership with Youth Guidance Boston, part of the national nonprofit Youth Guidance organization. Its core programs, Becoming a Man (BAM) and Working on Womanhood (WOW), are highly engaging school-based counseling and mentoring programs that promote social-emotional and psychological well-being, strong school engagement, and increased academic attainment for students in grades 7-12.
“In addition to excelling academically while also working after school, Jakhi is an outstanding leader in the Youth Guidance program, embodying BAM core values, including visionary goal setting, self-determination, and integrity,” said Derek Pratt, Chairman of Citisoft’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. “We are thrilled to continue the partnership with Youth Guidance and support exceptional scholars like Jakhi as they pursue success both in school and in life.”
“Youth Guidance Boston is committed to the excellence of our scholars through school and life, but we have struggled to fulfill that commitment once our scholars graduate from the schools where we serve,” explained Shawn Brown, Youth Guidance Executive Director | Boston. “Citisoft is fulfilling that commitment for us, and they are elevating these BAM alumni in spaces that they may not have ordinarily been elevated in without their support. We are grateful for this partnership with Citisoft and for its impact in creating a more equitable society.”
Now in its third year, Jakhi joins past Citisoft Scholars Garvince Jean Francois (2023) and Evan Lewis (2022) to form a growing cohort able to provide its own support and guidance. Citisoft and Youth Guidance look forward to supporting one additional recipient each academic year. Details on application for next year will be made available by Youth Guidance in 2025.
